Darren Brown, PhD

Darren Brown has a diverse career background in technical, management, and leadership roles. As an environmental scientist he consulted for Golder Associates in Canada and Australia, he provided expert review and oversight within municipal and provincial government, and supported clean energy generation with BC Hydro as a Senior Natural Resource Specialist. Darren spent several years in the construction materials sector as the BC Manager of Environment and Public Affairs with Lafarge as well as the Vice President of Environment and Regulatory Affairs with the Cement Association of Canada. Darren was also the former Director of Environment for the BC Agriculture Council, supporting sustainable technology innovation and implementation in the sector.

Outside of the traditional corporate stream, Darren has founded and developed successful startups including ESSAFIN Logic, a software-based technology company that supports the financial services sector with impact risk mitigation analysis.

Dr. Brown holds a BSc in Biological Sciences, an MSc in Environmental Management, and a PhD in Civil Engineering with a focus on Life Cycle Impact Assessment. Darren is also a Registered Professional Biologist.
